The best part of the pattern making project is hands down seeing the fun things people make out of the pattern and how they “hack” it. Both Trine from Groovy Baby Mama and Anneliese from Aesthtic Nest shared their versions of the Lyon Pattern on their blogs this week and I LOVE how they turned out!
I got to know Trine well when we competed together in Project Sewn. Every single week she sewed up the most gorgeous garments. Her taste, to me, is flawless. Everything she sews looks straight out of a European children’s boutique. If I had her talent (and access to that great fabric store she is always posting about) I don’t know if I would ever buy my children any clothes. For her version of the Lyon she lengthened and rounded the hemline and drew out the shoulder line to add drape. It is incredible how something this simple completely transforms the dress! Love it!
Anneliese whipped out THREE different versions of the Lyon each one with something special. My fav though is on the striped dress how she flipped the fabric onto the vertical. Not only does this give the neckline a little added strength but it looks awesome! How cute are her daughters? I am lucky enough to live somewhat close to Annelises so I can speak from experience that her girls are super cuties and she is as sweet as she seems.
Our pattern testers did an amazing job creating both cotton and jersey dresses. I love opening my in box in the am and getting a flod of smiling little cuties in new dresses.
I can’t wait to see all the different versions at the end of the month when we round up all the members versions for the social media contest. Be sure to hashtag your creations when you post them! Happy sewing!
