Our featured designer this month the lovely Adrianna from Hey June Handmade not only created our Sanibel pattern but also just release a brand new children’s patter the Hatteras Hoodie. I had been wanting to try my hand at making a sweatshirt for a while now so I was super excited when she asked me to try it out. While I know I will be sewing several hooded versions soon the first one I wanted to try was her asymmetrical version (view B).
I found a super fun jersey-backed stretchy lace at Joann’s fabric that I knew would be perfect! I had some left over grey terry from the few yards I purchased while in Tokyo and pulled out some gold piping to give it some kick. I am in love with the result.
I am already begging Adrianna to do an adult version (which I think she is working on, fingers crossed). This pattern was perfect for Evie who has become a little tomboy and wants to wear pants and shirts every day. But I feel like the lace and piping keeps it pretty girly, keeping momma happy.
I am such a sucker for all things hi-low and while I didn’t get a great shot of it, it looks super cute on my goofy giggly girl.
This was a really quick sew for me. I know it might take a little longer for beginning sewers but Adrianna’s instructions are thorough and extremely clear. I have become a jersey addict now that I have learned how to sew it properly and Adrianna includes all the tricks it takes to make perfect unwavy, even seams.
My boys are pretty excited that there is a BOY pattern in our house ha! When I told them they could come with me and pick out the fabric Sawyers draw dropped ha! Thank you Adrianna for such a fun pattern! If you are as excited for fall as I am and want to sew up some comfy cozy sweatshirts for your littles you can find the pattern HERE.
