Evie is my tan baby girl. It is winter here in Aus (though it has been unseasonably warm) and she is has a gorgeous tan. To say I am jealous is an understatement. She also got her Daddy’s green eyes. So I have been dying to make her a deep green dress. Stef’s Mille Feuille dress was exactly what I was looking for.
I wanted to add some interest to the bodice though (the lace placket is not included in the instructions and is a very mini hack of mine) and went looking for some lace pieces I could use. The first few shops I visited had nothing close to what I was looking for. I hit gold though in the third shop and wanted to buy ALLLLLLL their laces pieces. I loved this geometric spin that you don’t usually see in lace and grabbed all they had left.
As I said before I am a huge fan of solid dresses. I feel like this helps them to be more timeless and easier to pass down. I also like that it makes sewing more affordable. Both these dresses cost me $6 to make. Which is pretty amazing since we all love them so much.
We have started making the girls wear sweaters with them since it has finally gotten pretty chilly here, but I know come next summer they will be begging for me to make them in every color under the sun! And with how gorgeous they look running around in them you know I will be more then happy to oblige!
